The Problem

Across the world, millions of people carry an invisible burden — shame.

It is the quiet voice that says:

• “You are not enough.”

• “You are a failure.”

• “If people really knew you, they would not love you.”

• “You are disqualified.”

People carry these labels for years — sometimes for life. They affect marriages, families, leadership, mental health, faith, and purpose.

Many people don’t need more information.

They need healing, dignity, and a new identity.

That is why The Precious Gift was created.

But this project did not begin as a book.

It began in a room.

My Story — The 10x10 Room

Several years ago, I found myself sitting in a small room — ten feet by ten feet — small enough to be my tomb. I had lost almost everything.

My marriage had ended.

My ministry had collapsed.

My businesses had failed.

My theatre career had disappeared.

Friendships faded.

And the approval I had spent my life chasing — especially from my father — was still out of reach.

I was middle-aged, sitting in a 10x10 room, surrounded by the ruins of everything I thought would prove I was worth something.

And in that room, a lie I had believed my entire life spoke loudly:

I grew up in a complicated family — my father had three wives and twenty children. Love and attention were scarce. It was often replaced by slaps and blows. Approval was rare. Shame was not just an emotion — it was the environment we lived in.

So I spent my life trying to earn worth:

• Through performance (theatre and film)

• Through ministry

• Through success

• Through relationships

But I learned something in that 10x10 room that changed my life:

You cannot perform your way into wholeness.

You cannot act your way into being loved.

You cannot preach your way into worthiness.

In that room, I stumbled into the story of an unnamed woman in the Gospel of Luke — a woman labeled “sinner” by her entire community — who walked into a room where she was not welcome and walked out with a new name: Beloved.

Her story gripped me and became my story.

This book, The Precious Gift, was born in that room — not from success, but from surrender. Not from having answers, but from finally telling the truth.

Today, I am a husband again. I am a father. I am still a work in progress. But I now understand something I did not understand then:

Transformation does not begin when we become worthy.

Transformation begins when we discover we are loved.

That is why I wrote this book.

This campaign moves the project from manuscript → to printed book → to launched ecosystem.

What could cause delays:

Printing and shipping timelines can be affected by regional logistics — particularly for supporters outside Kenya and East Africa. We have mitigated this through a hybrid fulfilment model: physical books for UK, US, and European supporters are printed locally via print-on-demand, eliminating international shipping delays.

If any timeline shifts, all supporters will be notified immediately with a revised delivery schedule. We will not ship until we can ship correctly.
