Hello! My name is Molli Lovas. I want to let you in on a secret and surprise for Tom Lane. I have known Tom for several years and can speak highly of his faith, devotion to family and diligence. Tom recently authored a book, Shadows Beneath The Stars, telling the story of his father's experience as a 19 year old prisoner of war captured during the Battle of the Bulge. Through researching and writing this book, Tom not only preserved an important piece of history, but also gained a deeper understanding of the father he grew up with; a man forever marked by the horrors of being a POW of WWII. 

This December, Tom has the opportunity to travel to the very places his father once walked. The tour company, founded by historian and author Steven Ambrose (Band of Brothers and Citizen Soldiers) is known for immersive and historically profound experiences. For Tom, this is not simple a trip; it is a pilgrimage. As a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Tom brings his own perspective on service, sacrifice and coming home.

We are seeking to raise funds to cover the cost of two tour registrations and airfare.  Tom is 75+ years old and we want to send him with a travel companion of his choosing while he is fully able to appreciate and cherish this time. Tom's wife passed away before he wrote the book or even considered travelling overseas. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help make this incredible journey possible. Having someone to accompany him will give him someone to share the complexities and emotions of the experience.  Every gift brings us closer to honoring his father's legacy and creating a once in a lifetime opportunity.
