Wheel Chair Ramp

Back in October 2025 a blockage was found in his right leg (thankfully was reopened successfully), the blockage did result in him having a toe amputated. That foot continues to heal slowly and we are soooo close to being fully healed!!

Fast forward to February 2026 and we noticed his left foot developing sores and black areas of necrotic tissue. The sores have continuously been getting worse with no signs of healing. He had an angiogram in March that showed blockages and they thought they restored blood-flow with a balloon.

In April he met with wound care who advised 2 of his toes need amputated.

May 12th we met with the vascular surgeon that did his previous amputation and we reviewed the most recent angiogram (end of April). She showed us that 2 of the 3 arteries that go to the foot are blocked. The one that is open stops at the ankle and the ability and likelihood of reopening the two that route to the foot is very low and the foot will not heal. We are now preparing for a below the knee amputation - scheduled for June 12th.

He will be in the hospital for about 3 days and then transition to rehab for two weeks. The amputation and requirement for more care than I currently provide in their home means we will need to install a wheelchair ramps so that I can provide the necessary care readily and still allow him to go to his dialysis treatment 3 times a week.

I have reached out to places like the Area Office on Aging and insurance who basically said they can’t help because he is not living here. We have tried the Ability Center who only offers rentals right now and it is $1100 for the start up and $300/month. Knowing that this could potentially turn permanent we got a quote for a permanent ramp which will be $4800.

We appreciate anything you are able to and feel inclined to help with, even if it’s just a quick share.
