3. Every home visit before this had gone well. Our assigned caseworker was reasonable — but his supervisor took issue with my wife's 20-year history as an established, legitimate pain management patient, despite her doctors confirming it was not a concern for our son's safety.

Since we were honest with medical staff, it has felt like the system decided who we were before we ever had the chance to prove it. We are not "deadbeat parents." Joshua is healthy, loved, and thriving with us. We have complied with everything asked of us.

Every day he's gone feels like a year.
