Homelessness and heartbrokeness

🌟💔 One memory haunts me, a painful contrast against our nation’s freedoms we fought to protect. It was only a year ago and I first faced the harsh realities of inadequate housing or employment for the first time in my life. We were happy and full of belief that it would work out, after all our combined years serving this country. But life had other plans.

Today, those same dreams feel like distant memories. Our modest home was turned into a battleground against forces beyond our control. It’s heartbreaking to see the American dream slip through our fingers again—not just once or twice—because of relentless external pressures and internal struggles we never expected: job losses, mounting debts, disabilities creeping in...

We've now lived on the streets; you should never have to know how it feels watching your child snuggle down in the truck seat for the night. We’re in a “home” such as it can be one. This time is different because every resource that used to be there for us seems absent or turned against us. Help was promised until my child turned 18 and now we’re floundering. Promises of running water, hot water would be. Blessing but just running water would help. I have been broken repeatedly, with no end in sight and landlords showing little care beyond collecting rent. The cold has settled deep into our bones during these harsh winters without proper heating. Our senior dogs hurt and can barely move on the coldest days.

The last few months have felt like an unending spiral downwards—selling the van that was supposed to be our safety net just to scrape together another month’s rent. Everything we owned is gone now, lost in a haze of desperation and financial despair. We've reached out for help countless times but feel unseen or misunderstood by those who could offer us support.

But let me tell you something: amidst all this hardship lies hope—a stubborn kind that only veterans can understand. It’s the belief that there are still good people in this world, even when darkness threatens to engulf them whole. That’s why I’m reaching out today—to those empathetic souls who believe as we do.

Your support isn't just financial; it’s a lifeline thrown from one human being to another during the storm. It can mean getting our heat back on, securing safe housing again, and starting anew without fear of eviction or homelessness. Each dollar donated means one less night spent shivering under layers upon layers of clothes in a freezing home where spirits are just as cold as temperatures drop below zero degrees Celsius outside.

Please help us rebuild from the ruins left behind by misfortune—to rise up against adversity instead of sinking into it, even if sometimes we feel like giving up because this journey has been anything but easy or fair. Your kindness can bring warmth back into our lives and dignity back onto our footsteps. Let’s show them that even when life tries to break you down, there's always hope waiting within your heart—just waiting for someone else’s light to ignite it once more. 💪🏡❤️

Please share this story if you believe in second chances and fighting back against injustice! Every share counts because every human deserves dignity when times get tough... And we all need each other now more than ever before. ✊👥
