Since June of 2022, Olivia has suffered from a rare neurological disease, autoimmune encephalitis. The far reaching effects of the disease have affected nearly every aspect of her body, including seizures, paralysis, cognition, and more. Her journey has included hospitalizations, extensive treatments, and rehabilitation. In 2025, Olivia spent over 100 days hospitalized. Given the decline in her health, we felt the need to explore and pursue other forms of treatment. In February of 2026 we took her out of state for ten weeks to receive daily hyperbaric oxygen treatment. The improvement was remarkable, but given the longevity and chronic nature of her disease, it became clear we would need more. The doctor overseeing her treatments recommended that we continue ongoing treatment for an indefinite period of time. 

We do not feel it is in the best interest of our family to be separated again for a lengthy period of time, so we are pursuing the option of having a hyperbaric chamber installed in our home. The doctor will continue to oversee and monitor her treatments, but she will be able to remain at home and our family will be able to stay together which is of utmost priority to us. 

We do not look to man or treatments for her healing, but trust in God as the Great Physician (Psalm 20:7). While the cost is great, this is one practical step we can take to improve Olivia's health and quality of life while also maintaining the normal rhythms of the family. Olivia is trusting in and looking to the Lord as her refuge, strength, and very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
