Steubenville! It is time to help our beloved Dr. Martin Owen.

The Owen family are invaluable members of our community. Martin is, for many of us, our family doctor and after just three years of practice, his clinic is packed. We clearly need and appreciate having an excellent Catholic doctor for our community.

Martin, Theresa, and their nine beautiful children are parishioners at St. Peter’s and students at Bishop Mussio, Catholic Central, and Franciscan University. Dr. Owen is the coach of the Jr. Crusaders soccer team, a Trail Life leader, and can be seen at many of our local cultural events, from setting up Nutcrackers to Ballroom dances and smoky salsa nights.

While Trinity will pay for his green card, Dr. Owen has been diligently working towards Green Cards for his family (which alone will be $50,000). This has been challenging while having to navigate the bureaucratic transition from a Canadian doctor to practicing in the United States.

Very recently, the Green Card process moved forward, but the challenge the Owen family faces is financial. Due to the volatile circumstances of their emigration from Canada, the needs of a large family and costs of lawyers and government visa fees, the Owen family is facing a significant financial shortfall.

Now is the time when we can give back to a man, and family, who have given so much care to our community. Please consider showing your support through prayers and financial assistance.

CALL TO ACTION!

 With the recent government shutdown, the Owen family had to face the possibility of not being able to work, go to school or drive. They had to plan to leave the country if their Visa did not get renewed (or extended) by Nov. 1st. PRAISE THE LORD, the lawyer was able to get an extension for Dr. Owen and he WILL be able to continue working! They never want to be in that position again! They would like to get the Green Cards processed as soon as possible and a government representative can make that happen!

 We need the community to call elected officials (Federal or State representatives). If you know any, please call them!!! Tell them you do not want to lose your doctor due to the government creating multiple barriers for legal immigrants. Go to Ohio.gov and look up your Representatives and Senators to send an email. Just plug in your zip. Many, if not all of us, have Senator Husted (202) 224-3353, Senator Moreno (202) 224-2315 and Rep Rulli (202) 225-5705. 

Dr. Owen and his family left everything behind to join our community in Steubenville.
