This campaign funds an open-source, community-built SKS chassis: a modern, modular, and well-documented platform that anyone can inspect, improve, and adapt—without being locked into a single vendor or closed design.

We’re developing an open hardware SKS chassis system focused on:

• Modularity: a base chassis with optional add-ons and mounting solutions
• Ergonomics: practical handling and modern geometry, designed for real use
• Maintainability: easy to service and configure without weird proprietary bits
• Documentation: clear specs, revision history, and transparent design decisions
• Community iteration: improvements happen in the open, not behind a paywall

Key features 

Initial release: Ability to run 10 round XCR magazines with NO ADAPTERS, Ability to take standard picatinny buttock for overall shorter length of the chassis and better ergonomics. bottom rail for attachments and forgegrips. 

Follow up release: Modular Magwell so that you can switch between Type81, AK and XCR magazines; Improved FAL-style handguard (both of these are already in the works). 

Third release: AR trigger group. This is the holly grail of being able to make the chassis compact. Biggest obstacle to using AR trigger group is not the trigger group itself, but the OOB safety of the original tigger group. We have an idea on how to make the OOB safety still work with AR trigger components. Phase 3 will be solely focused on this. 

This project is about better engineering and better access to knowledge: a chassis that’s designed carefully, tested thoughtfully, and improved collaboratively.

Safeguards: Weekly progress updates; refund of unused/unspent funds.

Because open design creates better outcomes:

We’ll publish the project under an open license and maintain a public repository with design iterations, test feedback, and release notes.

4. Release candidate (documented, tagged, stable)
5. Open release (public design package + ongoing improvements)
