My sister-in-law Toni and her kids are currently navigating a difficult and unprecedented situation that has created significant emotional and financial obligations and stress.

In January of 2025, her husband became aware his teenage daughter was misusing her cell phone and putting herself and others in danger. Exercising his parental rights and duties, he and other concerned family members confiscated his daughter’s phone. In March of 2026, his daughter made criminal allegations surrounding the circumstances of this confiscation, which resulted in his sudden and unexpected arrest. This was especially painful because her husband is an award winning and decorated police officer with no prior discipline but, due to mandatory suspension laws, he was suspended without pay while the matter is being disputed.

While Toni, her husband, their friends, and family are confident that truth and justice will result in a favorable outcome, he must focus on and prepare for the lengthy legal battle ahead. Toni must focus her efforts on maintaining financial normalcy and is facing the stress of going back to work after 7 years of being a stay-at-home mother to their 3 small children. To compound the issue, Toni must find a way to pay for the basics along with the additional burden of paying attorney’s fees, all while dealing with the reality that her income will be far less than what her husband was making.

Toni and her husband have already had to make many tough decisions, including taking their kids out of extra-curricular activities. Tragically, their kids continue to feel the stress and impact of their sudden lifestyle change despite their parents' efforts to minimize the felt effects. 

The sole purpose of this fundraiser is to assist Toni with maintaining a reasonable standard of living for her family, while her husband fights these allegations.
