Last Thursday evening (July 20) our dear brother Sean Cavender tragically lost his life in a car accident in Athens, Alabama after hearing the last lecture of the 2023 Truth Lectures. Sean delivered a powerful message on the Kingdom of God that very morning. Sadly, Sean was struck by a truck that ran a red light and passed from this life quickly. Brethren that were outside of Athens Bible School rushed to Sean, but he was already gone.

I have known Sean since he was a small boy. He had a strong desire to preach the gospel and to serve God's people. He attended where I preach at the Hwy. 65 church of Christ in Conway throughout his college years. His wife Kristin and two precious sons (Zeke, 4 and Xander, 8) will miss him greatly as a loving husband and father. Even during the lectures Sean bought bibles for his boys with their names engraved on the cover. To know Sean was to love him. He was committed to the truth, proclaimed the gospel in powerful purity, and loved His brothers and sisters in Christ. We will miss his big smile, gracious spirit, and generous encouragement. We will greatly miss our dear brother. On a personal level, I will miss our conversations about the Scriptures, his support and strength, and His grace and kindness.

As many of you know, the loss of Sean as a husband and father is not only tragic from an emotional standpoint as a family, but it is also very challenging from a financial perspective as well. Both the cost of his burial and funeral, and moving forward as a family will require help from brethren in Christ. Good brothers are arranging for a way of taking advantage of this opportunity to help this family financially who has undergone such loss. The spirit of Christ among His people is an amazing blessing even in times of anguish and pain.
