We are raising up to $45,000 to return Mayor Giuliani’s convertible to him—or, if that proves impractical, to provide a sister vehicle of the same model and similar year in excellent condition. A dedicated trust will be created with the sole purpose of purchasing, registering, insuring, maintaining, and ultimately delivering and providing ongoing use of the vehicle to America’s Mayor. White & Case LLP is the intended trustee designate.

All uses of funds will be strictly limited to:

• Creation and administration of the trust
• Purchase of the vehicle
• Registration, insurance, and maintenance
• Delivery of the vehicle to a U.S. destination of the Mayor’s choice

To ensure continuity and protection, the vehicle’s title will not be transferred directly to the Mayor, so that it cannot be taken from him again during the next political pendulum swing.

Should contributions exceed the required amount, all excess funds will be donated directly to Tunnel to Towers, in keeping with the spirit of service and sacrifice that defined September 11.

It remains a striking irony that a man recognized as a 9/11 first responder should have his cherished automobile taken from him by legal process. This initiative seeks to restore that loss in the most tangible way possible. And perhaps, Mr. Mayor, the keys could even be handed to you in the White House during an upcoming ceremony and the vehicle could be provided to you in San Diego—near the Navy SEAL base—before you take a well-deserved drive up America’s beautiful California coast.
