It was a chilly winter morning when I stood, heart pounding, watching my fiance's favorite song play one last time before it faded into the silence of our empty home. That moment marked not just the end of an era but also the beginning of a new chapter filled with uncertainty and struggle for us. I am Rebecca, a single mother of seven-year-old Ruby, who has autism. My life is far from ordinary, but each day brings its own challenges—from my heart condition to severe PTSD that stems from past traumas too painful to share publicly.

Life hasn't been fair; we lost our home and everything in it back in 2024. With only my meager income from social security disability, I have struggled daily just to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. But now, there’s a glimmer of hope. We need your help! 🙏

A reliable vehicle is more than transportation—it's about independence and dignity for us. Right now, getting Ruby to her special school program three towns away feels like an insurmountable mountain. Public transport isn't accessible or frequent enough; it’s simply not possible without financial support. 💔

Imagine the joy when we step out of our home—a place where once every moment was filled with laughter and love, but now often echoes too loudly because of its emptiness. Having a vehicle means taking Ruby to free events, visiting libraries, finding blessing boxes around town for some extra nourishment, meeting other parents for playdates at nearby parks, and attending her birthday parties without being confined by geographical limitations imposed by our budget.

This isn’t just about getting from point A to B; it's a lifeline that will allow us to thrive instead of merely survive. It means less stress when I have to manage multiple medical appointments because the car can take me further and more often than public transport does, covering expenses not covered by Medicaid.

After going No contact with abusive parents(my daughters grandparents) we are now all each other have. I'm afraid I don't belong to any community in particular and I never had much opportunity to make friends growing up as I was moved from school to school a dozen times.

I had a good friend pass away in 2019, one who attempted to hurt me and my unborn daughter in a purposeful car crash while I was 8 months pregnant in the passenger seat amidst a severe manic bipolar episode and another who unfortunately took a bad road in active addiction and currently awaiting a prison sentence.

I have the dream that we will have a vehicle soon, I can doordash, drive for Lyft or work part time while my daughter is in school and be able to travel to the gym and fitness center that has a daycare center again, as my insurance does cover membership costs. Her father and I used to work out there and she could play in the daycare with other children.

I dream of being more . Having more.
