The purpose of this fund raiser is to buy a gravestone for our immigrant parents Peter Iven and Anna Gertrude Muenks. A secondary purpose is for the improvement and upkeep of the Old Immaculate Cemetery in Loose Creek. Peter Iven immigrated from Bedburg, Germany in 1842. Anna Gertrude Muenks immigrated with her family in 1841. Her parents were Jacob Muenks and Sybilla Catherina (Baumeister) Muenks. Her brothers were Gerhard and Peter William Muenks and sisters Anna Katharine and Cecilia and Catherina Margaret. This family was featured in a educational film titled, "Germans in America, Into the Promised Land". The families were buried in the Old Immaculate Conception cemetery in Loose Creek, Missouri. Peter and Anna Gertrude had fourteen children and were pioneers of Loose Creek. The Iven gravestones were lost or destroyed as were the Jacob and Sybilla gravestone. Joseph Muenks raised money to establish a gravestone for Jacob and Sybilla and this Iven gravestone is to honor our pioneer ancestors. Peter Iven is listed as an immigrant on the memorial monument in front of the church.
