On August 11th, Sea Bright Ocean Rescue Chief Mike Hudson suddenly passed away at the age of 53. He is survived by his beloved dog, Stewie, his sister, Robin LeBlanc, friends, colleagues, community of watermen, and the countless lives that he saved. In addition to Mike’s career as a lifeguard, he was a former Navy Corpsman, military special operations medical instructor, MICP paramedic, dive safety expert, and Covid-19 containment specialist. Mike's career achievements read like a novel: mountainside rescues, delivering babies at the Mexican border, shark attack interventions on Discovery’s Shark Week, working alongside Guy Fieri, and countless ocean rescues on beaches across the country. The final chapter of Mike’s life was spent in Sea Bright, NJ as Sea Bright Ocean Rescue’s chief lifeguard, instructor, and mentor. Chief Hudson’s SBOR lifeguards will be his living legacy as they continue to carry out the training and compliance protocols put in place under his tutelage. The Chief Mike Hudson Memorial Fund has been created to support some of the causes that were close to Mike’s heart. The proceeds from the Chief Mike Hudson Memorial Fund will support Sea Bright's Junior Guard program, the Beneath the Waves Foundation for marine conservation, and future life-saving measures in Mike's memory. Thank you for your contributions and WATCH THE WATER!
