My name is Olha Smith. I was born in Lviv, Ukraine and have lived in the U.S. for the last 24 years. I worked as a Critical Care Nurse in the ICU for 15 years and I now serve my community as a cardiac catheterization lab nurse, where we save lives on daily basis. My heart is breaking for the people in Ukraine and I found an opportunity to help with 100% of the donations going towards medical relief.
At this time many people are dying, because of shelling, bombing, shooting; often because of bleeding in the extremities and lack of appropriate medical care. Simple but efficient emergency medical assistance can save lives. The funds raised here will be used for the purchase of tourniquets, that can occlude blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage. Purchase of tourniquets has been requested by physicians and first responders in Ukraine and will save lives.
Update #5 September 12, 2022
Update on financial portion of this campaign.
As of August 2022, Ukrainian doctors received 5 packagers of medical supplies, valued at 9,783 dollars from our campaign. Most of the supplies have been distributed to first responders in different areas of Ukraine. Some, such as glucose testing strips were given directly to children with diabetes.
This week we are shipping additional 2 packages of medical supplies, mainly Burnshiled dressings per request of doctors in Ukraine, to help care for burn victims.
Unfortunately, war in Ukraine continues and medical supplies are still being provided by many private citizens around the world. We appreciate your continued support.
