The town of Matlacha and Pine Island have been absolutely decimated by Hurricane Ian. Hundreds have lost their homes, their cars, their businesses... some even lost their lives. The bridge to the island was washed away. A historic Florida community has been washed out to sea. The devastation is pervasive, widespread, and gut-wrenching. I was able to see it firsthand after a local fishermen took me to my totaled home this past Sunday.

These people need help. Many of them lived in trailers, double-wides, and other uninsured dwellings. They have nothing left. No belongings, no place to sleep. They are struggling to find basic supplies, water, food, necessities for living. Their businesses are gone.

The only way for this island to start to rebuild is through help from people around the world. These people have had everything taken from them. As a Matlacha homeowner, I owe it to my community and to the amazing people that call this place home to help them. They have helped me for years and accepted me for who I am - it's time I return the favor. I need your help to do it.
