An Invitation to be part of Levi’s Healing Story and our Fight for His Life:I clearly remember how I felt when we received the news about Levi's diagnosis. It felt hazy and far away at first, but it was real life, and soon it began hitting us hard. After a few weeks of illness, and then a sudden and scary health downturn that landed us in the ER and the PICU because of organ failure, we were finally given a reason for his ailments. Our little boy, who loves to toddle and stumble around with an infectious giggle, had been diagnosed with that horrid disease no parent wants to hear after his child's name: Leukemia; more specifically,  AML.

It's been a long month. Living in the PICU for the past weeks, Levi has undergone Chemotherapy, several surgeries, and two weeks breathing through a tube before he could finally breathe again on his own. Levi seems to take each treatment with courage far beyond his years, but behind those brave, sad eyes lies a child who just wants to play and be carefree like any other 1.5-year-old. After careful discussion, we decided that Sara should step away from her job, so as to fully concentrate on caring for Levi and our other son, Elliot. As for me, as I finish my studies, while also caring for Levi and being available for my family, I grapple with the question of how to manage financially without either of us working.Even though this is exhausting, for Levi and for us, his Mama and Papa, we’re not alone in this fight; our family and our faith community have been a beacon of support. Through cards, hugs, prayers, a much-needed extra vehicle, meals, financial gifts, and more, we've been cared for by the church and our wonderful friends and family. And we are so deeply grateful.

And yet, even with all this help, there are daily costs that add up: gas for hospital runs, bills at home, and other expenses, which are eating away at our savings. The weight of this concern feels heavy at times, but we know that the best thing to give to our son right now, is being with him, showing our faces, hearing our voices singing, reading books and encouraging him. The doctors are working to save his precious little life; we are fighting to maintain and soothe his spirit, giving him hope and a reason to fight.Our Request:We believe that together, with the support of friends and loved ones far and near, we can keep up the fight for Levi without worrying about how to make ends meet. Your support, in whatever way, gives us courage. With this crowdfunding campaign we hope to ease our financial burden so we can focus 100% on the healing of little Levi during these tough months ahead.You might be thinking, "How can I help?"
