Hello my name Is Darrell,

And I want to tell you a little bit about my amazing friend Kathy, who is one of the most kind hearted and caring people you'd ever want to meet and she's the type of person that would give you the shirt off her back if you were in need. But now she's the one in need of a little help as she was diagnosed last month with breast cancer and even though this isn't how she wanted to end 2023 or start 2024, she taking this fight head on with a very positive attitude and outlook of a champion, which is so inspiring to me and many others who she has touched with her infectious smile and amazing personality, which is why she is loved by so many.

When I reached out to Kathy about putting something together for her, I wanted her to share her own story(which is below} of what she's been going through since she got the news that she has breast cancer and you can just read her story and hear from her own words, what make's her so inspiring to others.

"From Kathy,

Dear friends and family and compassionate hearts. I am reaching out today to let you know I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. This is something I never thought I would ever have to say. In the middle of October, I had an infection that showed up in my right breast. I immediately went to my doctor and was put on a steroid and strong antibiotic. A week later it was better and I was scheduled for a mammogram and ultrasound on November 8. Not too long after that I received a call that I needed to be scheduled for a biopsy November 21. The day before Thanksgiving I received a message from my doctor whom is one of my friends she said “are you home and can I call you”… I stared at the phone, which seemed to be an eternity, even though it was probably only a couple of minutes. She told me I had breast cancer. This by far was the most devastating news I’ve ever received. Thank God I had family around me I cried like I haven’t in a long long time.

Facing a diagnosis, like this makes you think about your life and everyone you want to fight even harder to be there for and see. Kids graduating college, family weddings, grandkids, etc and so much more to live for which gives you an even stronger reason to fight this horrible disease.

An aspect that adds to the complexity of is the financial strain that accompanies medical challenges. I will be undergoing surgery on December 26th and treatment into the New Year! Navigating this road ahead is challenging journey, both emotionally and financially.

I’m a fighter and resilient and will knock this out of the park. The journey is undoubtedly tough. I’m determined to face it with courage, strength and positive outlook.

 Love to you all!

Kathy's family, friends and co-workers have been so supportive over the past few weeks as she had multiple doctor's and medical appointments to get ready for her surgery. But because of the extreme cost of Kathy's surgery and other medial procedure's she's going to have to go through over the next few months to beat cancer. I'm reaching out now asking for additional support to help her with other expenses and the financial hardship that will arise from her battle with breast cancer. No amount is too small and with a combined effort, even $5 or $10 can go a long way to help care for my friend and her family in this fight. If you are unable to contribute I completely understand, but I hope you will consider sharing her story with others.
