Heartfelt Mission

It all started when my friend Prince introduced me to Jerry Bright back in June 2023, whose story immediately touched my heart. After fleeing Burundi to escape threats to his family, Jerry and his family have struggled to survive as refugees in Uganda for the past 10 years. During this time, they have endured constant instability, moving from one rental house to another because they simply cannot afford the rent—often being forced out with nowhere to go.

Jerry comes from a deeply vulnerable family situation. His parents are unemployed and unable to provide for the household. His father suffers from serious heart problems, while his elder brother lives with epilepsy and faces ongoing insecurity due to his condition. He has 4 siblings and the youngest member of the family, Blessing, just 8 years old, is battling malnutrition—an everyday reminder of the harsh reality they live in.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, Jerry remains faithful, serving as a worship leader in his church and putting God first in all he does. From the age of just 14, Jerry was forced to stop his studies to take on any work he could find, sacrificing his education to help his family survive.

Real Struggle

Life in Uganda has been incredibly difficult. Opportunities are scarce, and Jerry works tirelessly doing odd jobs, sometimes earning as little as $2 a day. Yet even in the face of such hardship, he continues to carry the burden of providing for his family with courage and resilience. His dream is simple but powerful: to relocate to Canada, where he can rebuild his life, support his loved ones, and finally find stability and safety.

What’s at Stake

The dream is within reach, but the $4,000 visa and travel costs are far beyond what Jerry could ever afford. This is not just a financial obstacle—it stands between his family and the possibility of a safer, healthier, and more dignified life. Without help, they remain trapped in a cycle of poverty, illness, and uncertainty.
