In memory of Master Sergeant Jeremy R. Burris - a devoted father, husband, son, brother, and true friend to many - we are establishing a college scholarship fund to support a Crown Point Central School graduating senior each year, as we are able, in Jeremy’s honor. As an Army EOD veteran who served for 18 years, Jeremy embodied courage, integrity, and a deep commitment to education, fitness, and personal growth.

Jeremy grew up in Crown Point, New York, where he graduated from Crown Point Central School. From an early age, he valued hard work and service, even working as a lifeguard. He went on to pursue higher education in criminal justice, always striving to grow and better himself both personally and professionally.

Jeremy enlisted in the United States Army and became a highly trained Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) specialist, performing one of the most dangerous and technical jobs in the military. He served in both Afghanistan and Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Throughout his honorable 18-year military career, Jeremy received dozens of medals and commendations, including an Army Commendation Medal with Valor, two Bronze Star Medals, and a Meritorious Service Medal, among many other awards and accolades. He also earned multiple professional development distinctions, reflecting his ongoing commitment to learning, growth, and excellence.

Jeremy remained deeply dedicated to physical fitness and helping others achieve their goals. He was a 2021 regional winner of the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) Best Warrior Competition, representing Headquarters Company in a demanding, multi-day competition that tested both physical and mental endurance.

Above all, Jeremy was devoted to his family, especially his children, Jerico and Mila. He was still a kid at heart, often playing video games with them, taking them on adventures to the trampoline park, and turning family movie nights into special events - popcorn included. Jeremy lived for his children, and they are his true legacy.

Jeremy believed strongly in the power of growth - both academic and personal. He valued education, physical health, and resilience, and he believed these qualities were essential to building a better future.

This scholarship will support students who strive to excel academically, prioritize their personal development, and demonstrate a commitment to growth - whether in technology, service, or humanitarian efforts. It is intended to help young people reach their full potential and carry forward the values Jeremy lived by.
