Hello I am Amanda Jaspers mom. As many of you know, Jasper's GI journey has been a long and challenging one. Unfortunately, we are having to start over and go through tube placement again, but this time the doctors will be taking a different approach.

To help prevent future complications, both the GI and surgery teams will be working together in the operating room. They will be performing upper and lower GI scopes at the same time, and we are hopeful this coordinated plan will give us some much-needed answers and a better outcome for Jasper.

While we are thankful for his medical team, the reality is that rent, utilities, and everyday bills do not stop just because we are spending time in the hospital. I am still on long-term disability and have not yet been released to return to work, and the disability payments barely cover our monthly expenses.

Over the coming months, we will be making many trips back and forth to Jacksonville for appointments with GI and surgery, follow-up visits, procedures, and ongoing care. We currently know of at least two procedures that Jasper will need, and there will also be the added expenses of travel, meals, and other necessities while we are away from home.

We are praying that the Ronald McDonald House will have rooms available when we need them, which would be a tremendous blessing. However, lodging is never guaranteed, and there is always the possibility of additional hotel expenses.

Most of all, we ask for your prayers for Jasper, for successful procedures, for answers, and for strength as we navigate this next chapter. Thank you to everyone who has supported, encouraged, and prayed for our family. Your kindness means more than words can express.

A little back story Last year was a rough year for you as it started with an admission that turned into a year full of GI surgeries and abscesses (a total of 8) and 2 biopsies. In the end we had to remove everything that we did, including the appendicostomy and let everything heal in order to regroup and start over. In the mean time I have been out of work and on short term disability due to mental health issues that all the mental stress this has cause on me. I also fell at the hospital while he was in and had to have ankle surgery the week before Christmas so I’m also healing from it. My job fired me due to running out of FMLA but I am on Long term disability so that covers my rent and electric. I am trying to get back to work and praying mentally I can do it and it doesn’t set me back again. All this and we are now waiting on stool cultures for Jasper and follow ups with GI to see what steps we need to move forwards with ongoing counseling and psychological appointments and also orthopedic and physical therapy all while I do not have any insurance. We believe in the power of prayer and God has not let down yet and always will provide. Thank you if you can donate or even if it’s just a simple prayer we appreciate it all.
