​The Tragedy: March 27th

​On the evening of Friday, March 27th, our lives changed in an instant. A devastating house fire swept through our home in Hurt, Virginia, completely destroying the structure and reducing everything we owned to ashes.

​In a matter of hours, a family of six—including four young children between the ages of 5 and 11—lost their clothes, their toys, their memories, and the physical foundation of their daily lives. We walked away with nothing but the clothes on our backs and each other.

​The Reality: 60 Days in a Hotel Room

​For the last two months, our family has been living entirely out of a single hotel room. Balancing the exhausting, complex logistics of a total-loss insurance recovery while trying to maintain a sense of stability, routine, and normalcy for four young kids in a cramped hotel space has been a test of mental, emotional, and physical endurance unlike any other.

​Through it all, our focus has been survival, resilience, and finding a path forward. After weeks of searching, we finally have a massive milestone to celebrate: We have secured a long-term rental property in the Danville area and are scheduled to move in on June 2nd!

​The Compounding Crises: Job Loss, Medical Hurdles, and Asset Liquidation

​While securing a home is a monumental victory, life has dropped multiple heavy anchors just as we are trying to cross the finish line. We are currently facing a perfect storm of compounding crises all at once:

1. ​Sudden Loss of Income & Vehicle: Right in the middle of this housing transition, I was hit with a sudden job layoff. This didn't just leave our family facing a complete loss of income—it also meant the immediate loss of my company work vehicle, which had been our primary means of transportation.
2. ​A Forced Transportation Emergency: This triggered a domino effect that completely crippled us financially. Our family van suffered a catastrophic engine failure, forcing my wife to replace it immediately so our family wasn't entirely stranded. Simultaneously, my Mustang was already in the shop requiring extensive, costly repairs. Facing a massive shop bill and an emergency vehicle replacement all at once—with no income coming in—we were forced into the complete liquidation of our remaining assets just to survive and stay mobile.
3. ​Imminent Medical Procedures: Compounding this intense financial and logistical stress, I am currently battling a severe medical crisis requiring multiple, consecutive surgeries to remove kidney stones. The timing is an unbelievable test of resolve: my second surgical procedure is scheduled for June 1st—exactly one day before we are supposed to physically move our family out of the hotel and into our new home.

​Recovering from surgery while managing a job search, recovering from total financial liquidation, and physically moving a household of six is a daunting mountain to climb.

​We have always prided ourselves on being independent, hard-working providers who build things up rather than asking for handouts. But true strength means knowing when to put your hand up and say, "We are facing a gap we cannot bridge alone, and we need our community."

1. ​Immediate Survival & Moving Costs: Securing the final rental deposits, paying for storage/moving logistics, and setting up a basic household baseline for our four kids now that our reserves are completely gone.
2. ​Rebuilding from Total Liquidation: Helping our family recover from the devastating financial blow of losing our assets to emergency vehicle and transportation costs.
3. ​Medical Expenses: Covering the out-of-pocket costs and deductibles associated with my consecutive kidney stone surgeries during this transition period.
4. ​Emergency Discretionary Fund: Bridging the gap for food, utilities, and daily necessities while I aggressively pursue my next professional chapter in operations and construction project management.
