She is one of the strongest women I've ever met.

She was 16 when she had her baby.

A couple of weeks later, her extremely charismatic and popular sister was killed in a robbery gone bad. A few weeks after that, Christine was violently raped. At sixteen.

I should tell you that I am Christine's lawyer.

I'm Christine's lawyer because she faces charges for attempted murder and first degree assault in Montgomery County, Maryland. She's facing up to 60 years or so.

Christine is so charged because she stabbed her abuser. She admitted it, just minutes after it happened. She told police it was self-defense. She had been punched and choked out and when she regained her vision and awareness, she was being jerked around by her hair. Her abuser ripped several of her locks out of her scalp.

She defended herself the only way she could. Somehow she was able to grab a knife.

The abuser left.

The next thing Christine remembers is getting herself up off the floor and running to deadbolt her door before he could return.

Police were there within minutes. Christine accepted responsibility... she told the police it was self-defense. Of course she was arrested and taken to jail.

She's been there since May 3, almost a month now. She'll be indicted. I'm trying to get her another bond review.

In the meantime, Christine's growing business is falling apart. Bills are going unpaid.

And she's about to have a significant legal fees.

I told her I want to do everything I can do to help.
