Hello,

My name is Karen Smith, wishing all is well with you and yours. Treating others as well as possible has always been important to me. In my early 60's, I have largely struggled with working two jobs or the equivalent nearly all of my life(!) I have helped many people when I could, as I am also a survivor of multiple extreme circumstances. In 2021, I was diagnosed with an aggressive endometrial cancer, carcinosarcoma, stage three. After a hysterectomy, chemotherapy, other surgeries, hospitalizations, radiation, complex infections, treatments, medications, tests and therapies, I am now facing a fifty percent survival rate over a five year span, as "monitoring and supports continue." I'm giving my best efforts, although the depths of the challenges have been as vast as they have been deep.

My hope is to have help to be less financially stressed than my family and I are overwhelmed with. My husband (who I wish I had met earlier in life) and I were already disadvantaged with very unfortunate circumstances monetarily, but have always paid our bills through working "exceptional amounts of hours." We also helped others through multiple different types of shortcomings when we could. I intend to continue working, yet a lot of working hours have been lost due to hospitalizations, recoveries, treatments, appointments, and recent job/insurance losses with bleak uncertainty brought in new employment/lower income.

Being unable to work is hard to conceive, as well as facing larger disadvantages without enough resources for hardships as we are already depreciated. In pursuit of my continued recovery, relief of some of our tremendous financial burdens can make a difference that is "unmeasurable", in my view of the steep climb in striving for a more secure platform of stability. Also, my desire to lighten the overbearing, persistent heaviness for my husband, as he has been neverendingly at "both" of my sides, is as powerful as the source of comfort, hope and illumination he has been to me through this "darker dimension". Recently, realization of my husband's Marfan symptoms has brought us further restrictions. Increased health issues are very probable, as is less income. And for me, @ 50% more protein enables white blood cells, but there is even more compromise in my fight to escape cancer's return. A Hashimotos diagnosis reflects of hindered circulation, discomfort, higher infection concerns and how critical, yet difficult, exercise is. If I am eventually able to go forward with goals that I have had for decades, to give greater tools of recovery/opportunity to those who have suffered harm and/or significant downgrades (especially at-risk female youth), my commitment in supporting them "for betterment of all of us" has been strengthened from this battle's seriousness.

"Any" donation that can be afforded will be met with very deep, sincere heartfelt appreciation, improving our ability with past and future medical bills and expenses, transportation costs, food and essentials. There are not words adequate enough to express how meaningful, encouraging and humbling "any" size gift can be, if possible to do.
