On September 15, Ivone and Mark Tatum and their daughter Victoria were victims of a horrific hit-and-run accident. A reckless driver in a stolen vehicle struck their car head-on at over 50 mph. The perpetrators fled the scene, leaving the family injured and escaping their burning vehicle. To date, no arrests have been made.

The physical and financial toll on the family has been devastating.  

Ivone Tatum, an emergency room trauma nurse, is currently unable to work due to the injuries sustained from the accident. She has undergone multiple surgeries for severe injuries, including a wrist fracture, major chest/breast injury and infected wounds. She continues to struggle with limited mobility, persistent numbness, lingering blood clots, and significant loss of strength and function in her left wrist and right leg. 

Mark Tatum required shoulder surgery following the accident, adding to the family’s medical challenges.

Just four days after the crash, their son Joaquin suffered a ruptured ACL during a football game. As a graduating senior, he was forced to miss the remainder of his football and track seasons.

The Tatums are a hardworking, faith-driven family currently facing crushing medical bills and ongoing rehabilitation costs while Ivone remains on leave from work. With Joaquin heading to college this fall, Cecilia a current freshman at Marquette University, and Victoria a senior at Marquette University, the financial pressure is immense.
