Help Salman Sima to hold Toronto Police Accountable & Fight Antisemitism

I want to say thank you for the thousands of messages of support and solidarity I have received.

For several months, the antisemitic mobs have been occupying our streets in Canada, especially in Toronto.

On December 23rd 2023, when Hamas sympathizers tried to shut down Christmas, my friends and I stood up against them while waving a Canadian flag and holding a "Merry Christmas" sign. The violent mob attacked me, destroyed all of my signs, stole my Canadian flag and dislocated my right shoulder in front of members of the Toronto Police. As far as I know, no one was arrested for assaulting me and my friends.

On April 6th 2024, “Al Quds Day,” once again, I decided to stand for Canadian values against the festival of hate. The Islamic regime in Iran created Al Quds Day. Al Quds Day rallies are a clear example of foreign interference. The organizer of this rally chanted for violence and for the genocide of Jews.

I was peacefully counter protesting and did not threaten or present any danger to any one. I had a sign which stated Canadian law: “Hamas is a Terrorist Organization.” Members of the Toronto police grabbed my sign and removed me from the sidewalk.

Shortly after I started my counter protest, I was arrested. They purposely twisted my right shoulder, the same shoulder which was dislocated on December 23rd. They had full knowledge of it’s injury as my friends and I were repeatedly informing them of it. This reaggravated my injury causing me great pain.

They took me to a tiny solitary cell at the 52 division where I was held for roughly five hours. I was released with no charges. I went to the hospital and received treatment for my physical injuries. The emotional upset and trauma I experienced was significant.

I am a former political prisoner in Iran who spent long days in solitary confinement, jailed in the hands of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC); it is so sad for me to experience something similar here. I escaped from the brutal regime that celebrates “Al Quds Day,” and never imagined I would experience anything similar in Canada.

Since I was released, many of you are encouraging me to take steps to hold the Toronto Police accountable. Doing this as well as continuing the fight against antisemitism, requires funds. I kindly ask you to show your generosity and help me through this fight. Any funds raised will be used to help us prove that the power of the people is greater than those who are violating our Rights and Freedoms.
