Hello, everyone!

I am raising funds for my father, Rick Marts. In late spring/early summer of 2024, he was diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis. His diagnosis led to the end of his beloved career as an aircraft mechanic. In October of 2025, his little sister (Stacy Marts) selflessly donated a portion of her liver to him in a partial liver transplantation procedure. Since having the procedure, my father has faced a long and difficult road to recovery; he has been admitted to the hospital several times for infections and other complications related to the procedure. Both he and my mother are disabled Air Force veterans, and they need assistance as they face the accumulating medical expenses. They received their first bill recently, which stated that they owe over $30,000, and the bill will likely increase. My parents are typically not ones to ask for help, but given Dad's health and his needs as he recovers, we very humbly ask for your assistance in facing these medical expenses. Anyone who knows my father knows that he is an incredibly intelligent man with a strong love for work (especially as an aircraft mechanic), guitars, and cars. He had a wonderful work ethic, and working on aircrafts was his passion. Had it not been for his health, he would still be working on aircrafts, but unfortunately, he is not well enough to even return home; both he and my mother have been housed at Gift of Life Howie's House since his procedure in October. Because he has been in and out of the hospital since his surgery, and because he is still being closely monitored, they have not been able to return home. Though the partial liver transplantation gave him a new chance at a healthier life -- for which we are all grateful -- recovery has posed a significant challenge, and our family would strongly appreciate your help.
