Mitch Lilly needs our help!

My childhood friend and fellow native San Diegan, Mitchell Lilly, is in critical need of a balloon stent in his left anterior descending (LAD) artery. Mitchell is 66 years old and resides in Da Nang, Vietnam, with his Vietnamese wife and stepdaughter. Unfortunately, he is living month-to-month and unable to pay for the medical procedure, which costs upwards of $5,000 in Vietnam.

I have known Mitchell since the 6th grade and will manage his campaign funds on his behalf.

Mitchell was born at Scripps Hospital in La Jolla in 1959. He grew up in Mission Beach and attended Mission Beach Elementary, Pacific Beach Middle School, and Mission Bay and Madison High Schools. He loved body surfing and playing over-the-line, but eventually became a prep basketball standout, breaking several county scoring records and being named San Diego CIF Player of the Year in 1977. He was also named a Breitbard Hall of Fame athlete of the month and appeared in an issue of the Sports Illustrated Faces in the Crowd section that year.

Although Mitchell has made many mistakes in his life, he is a caring son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and husband with a good heart. He is hoping his fellow Mission Bay and Madison friends and alumni, along with San Diegans who enjoy and follow high school sports, will lend him a helping hand in his hour of great need.
