Jack (Wade)  is facing 8 serious federal charges for events related to January 6, 2021. On February 5, Wade received a call from the FBI to ask him about his trip to DC. He did not speak with them, and instead had his lawyer call them to speak on his behalf. At the time, they did not have charges against him and advised his lawyer that they would let him know if they did, so Wade could turn himself in. We never heard back from them until the morning of April 1 around 6:45am when the FBI surrounded our home. We were both asleep, and woke up to lights flashing into the windows of our home. The presence of law enforcement was overwhelming to say the least. There had to have been over a dozen vehicles, including what seemed to be similar to a tank. The agents ordered Wade to come outside with his hands up over loud speakers as he was scrambling to get dressed and I was still just trying to find some shoes. Beams of red laser lights penetrated our home through several windows in various directions. I quickly abandoned my search for shoes so I could get outside fast hoping to de-escalate the situation as Wade was still getting dressed. When I stepped outside, the illuminating red dots from the laser lights became fixed upon my body as the agents drew their weapons, shouting for me to put my hands up. Once Wade stepped outside, the agents’ tone escalated and became more aggressive. The laser beams shifted to his direction, covering his face and torso. Wade was quickly taken into custody, and that was the last time I saw him.

The next day, April 2, Wade had his first bond hearing with a local judge in GA . She denied the government’s motion to keep him detained following pretrial service recommendation for his release as he does not have a criminal history and was coorperative from the very start. The government appealed and the DC judge denied his release stating that he is a continued threat due to former President Trump’s continued statements regarding the election. There were somewhere between 30-40 letters and affidavits from our community submitted for Wade’s defense on behalf of his character. The judge completely disregarded this and basically determined that Wade is a danger to the community because of the offense charged and because of Donald Trump's continued comments. Wade, like the other Jan6 defendants, is being denied due process and equal treatment. Wade was the owner of a fence company before this happened. His company is no longer functioning due to him being detained, which has eliminated more than half of our income, and the expenses to keep him detained are adding up on top of legal defense fees. We appreciate any level of support. Even just a message of encouragement goes SO far. He needs to know that he is still human and worthy of receiving love and grace. This is something he has really been struggling with since this all happened. He feels shamed and ultimately condemed, but he needs to know that we are here for him and for the other January 6 defendants currently experiencing these things. Thank you.

Update #12
November 4, 2021
facebook twitter

November 1st marked 7 months of incarceration for Wade. I still have a hard time wrapping my head around this situation. Never in a thousand years could I have ever anticipated something like this. I am doing okay. Life is different, my perspective on certain things has changed, and my overall sense of normality has gone completely out the window. I don't even remember what "normal" feels like, but that is okay. This is just the way things are right now, and I am adapting. Wade is doing 'okay' too - at least as okay as he can. He is making it. I'd love it if he could be home for the holidays, but it will be okay if he can't. In the meantime, we will hope for the best.

Thank you all so much.

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've posted an update - it's just been a crazy time. I wanted to say thank you again to everyone who has helped and prayed for us. This past month has been very difficult for me mentally, and I've felt overwhelmed, discouraged, and just so small. I finally broke down the other day, and then remembered the things that we DO have going for us. 2 months ago, we were financially depleted, but now we are so close to being able to meet our financial obligations. You all have provided us with a gift that I could have never achieved on my own, and one that I never even thought was possible. 2 months ago, we had no chance, but maybe now we do - at least, this is what I am praying for.

Wade wrote a letter for you all:

"Thank you for all the prayers, letters, books, and donations. Haley and I are blown away at the level of support by many of you I have not met personally. Since I am detained (despite having a clean/nonviolent record) I am unable to get my affairs in order before trial. The donations and support we have received is truly a blessing. Please continue to pray for me, as well as the other January 6 defendants. I only ask to be treated fairly. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America."

Update #7

Today I'm battling with feelings of anger - this usually happens about once or twice a week. There is no one particular reason for it - I think it's just everything as a whole. I get so frustrated when I think about the way defendants from the 2020 unrest were treated compared to the way our Jan6 defendants are treated. It's just unbelievable, and I just don't understand how this is even allowed to happen when we have a constitution in place to protect us from these things. At what point will the constitution stand in court for these defendants

Wade received some letters today!!! He was just so thrilled! He loves receiving letters and prayers. Please feel free to write to him about anything you'd like - it could be about regular everyday life, or maybe even something significant in your life that you'd like to share. Make sure to only use regular, non-colored paper and no cards, otherwise it will be rejected at the jail. Thank you so much for your support. I can't say it enough.

It's been a crazy week, and a lot is happening behind the scenes. I hope we will be able to see the light at the end of this tunnel sometime soon. Until then, we will just keep hanging on and keep moving forward. If anyone would like to write to Wade, here is how you would fill out the envelope:

Update #4
July 28, 2021

Wade is hanging in there, and earlier this week, he was struggling with what he described as an overwhelming "sense of doom". It's probably natural considering what he and many others are going through, but we talked about it, and we started talking about God and we did our best to trust that our needs will be met. We talked about how its been hard to have faith, and how we felt alone, but we said we would just keep hanging on. We can now see that we are far from alone, and we have been  restored by you all, and when it gets hard (because it will) we will remember all of you. Sometimes it's hard to ask for help. It feels strange and unnatural. Wade has always been independent, but he is now so vulnerable, and it's a strange place for him to be. Wade's spirit will be transformed through this dark time in his life, and he will forever have you all to thank for helping him get through this. Your grace and generosity is truly remarkable.

Thank you all so SO much. You have no idea how much this means to Wade and I. I am overwhelmed with gratitude, and you all have restored my faith. Today was one of the worst ones yet for me, but it has been completely turned around, and I cannot thank you all enough. Wade is just beside himself, and beyond appreciative of your support. He too was losing faith, but he's been hanging in there as best as he can, and you all have restored us both. We will be forever grateful. Thank you so very much.
