Help Tracie Hold Government Accountable

My name is Tracie Halvorsen. I am a trained paralegal with more than 30 years of legal experience, a civic advocate, and a pro se litigant pursuing civil-rights cases challenging government overreach.

I did not choose this path because it was easy. I chose it because constitutional rights mean little if ordinary citizens cannot defend them when government officials or institutions exceed their lawful authority. My cases seek lawful redress for alleged violations of protected rights, meaningful judicial review, and accountability that can deter similar conduct in the future.

Representing myself does not mean litigating without expense. Pro se cases still require filing and service costs, transcripts and public records, legal-research tools, document production, travel, qualified experts when appropriate, and resources for appeals or other necessary review. Government defendants have public resources and experienced counsel. A self-represented citizen must build the record, research the law, meet every deadline, and carry the financial burden personally.

That is why I am asking for your help.

My goal is to raise $50,000 to support my current pro se civil-rights litigation. Gifts will be used for legitimate litigation-related expenses, including court and service fees, records and transcripts, research and document preparation, expert consultation or testimony when necessary, travel, and appellate costs. Funds may also cover payment-processing charges and closely related administrative expenses.

This effort is about more than one person. Government power needs lawful limits, and rights must be enforceable by the people they protect. When citizens peacefully use the courts to demand answers and accountability, they strengthen the rule of law.

I also want other Americans to understand that they are not powerless. A determined citizen can learn the rules, preserve the record, present a claim, and insist that constitutional grievances receive meaningful consideration. Pro se litigation is demanding, but access to justice should not depend entirely on whether someone can afford a large law firm.

The claims described here are allegations presented or to be presented through lawful court proceedings. The courts will decide the facts and legal merits. This campaign does not ask anyone to prejudge a defendant or harass any person. It asks supporters to help make fair, orderly, and persistent civil-rights litigation possible.
