Sometimes life hits good people all at once, and as a mother, it’s hard to watch your children struggle when all they want is a chance at happiness.

My son, Matt, is only 21 years old, but he has worked incredibly hard & has overcome the odds of becoming just a poverty/addict/criminal statistic to build a good life for his family. He and his beautiful fiancée, Kay, are raising their two precious babies together while juggling a mortgage, utilities, car payments, and all the responsibilities that come with adulthood. Despite their young age, they have stayed committed to each other, their children, and building a stable home filled with love.

Their dream has always been simple — to finally become husband and wife surrounded by the people who love them most.

They had planned a small wedding for this summer. The dress is already hanging in the closet, and the venue has graciously agreed to hold their date a little longer while we try to come up with the remaining money needed to make this special day possible. Unfortunately, unexpected bills and Matt taking a short, unpaid paternity leave after the birth of their newest baby in March set them back financially.

As his mama, I wish I could give them the wedding they deserve all on my own. I am beyond proud of the man my son has become. He has overcome difficult circumstances, stayed hardworking, devoted himself to his family, and recently rekindled his relationship with God. Kay has also faced hardships in life and no longer has parents or close family to lean on. Our family is truly all she has.

So today, I’m humbly asking for help from anyone who feels led to give — no matter how small the amount may be. Every single dollar will go toward helping these two young parents finally have their wedding day and create a beautiful memory together.
