We are parishioners of a small Anglo-Catholic church served by a devoted priest who has quietly sacrificed nearly everything in order to continue his ministry and keep our parish alive.

For years, he has faithfully maintained the daily life of the Church almost entirely on his own — celebrating the liturgy, hearing confessions, visiting the sick, counseling parishioners, leading study groups, volunteering as a hospital chaplain, and keeping the doors of the church open for all who seek prayer, reverence, and spiritual refuge. Despite mounting hardship, he has repeatedly taken voluntary pay cuts so that the parish itself could survive. His life is this church and he would gladly give everything to serve it.

His situation has become severe.

He is reluctant to reveal this to anyone and I myself am ashamed to violate his confidence in this way but I feel that I have no other option, and that it is the right thing to do. In order to continue supporting the church, he has begun selling many of his cherished personal possessions, including historic books and treasured Bibles collected over a lifetime of study and devotion. He currently lives in unsafe and unstable conditions, renting a room from dangerous and unstable people in an environment that no clergyman should have to endure. Financial hardship has even made it difficult for him to afford adequate food and transportation, limiting the amount of time he is physically able to remain at the church each day.

He is the only clergyman serving the entire parish.

As parishioners, we are doing all we can, but our small congregation simply does not have the resources necessary to provide the support he urgently needs. We are therefore asking for help from anyone who believes faithful clergy and reverent churches deserve to endure.

Out of humility and for the sake of his dignity, he wishes to remain anonymous. We ask that this wish be respected. This fundraiser is not about publicity or recognition, its not even really about the church, it is about preserving a great and kind man's ability to continue his vocation and ensuring that a small and sacred place does not disappear.
