I never expected to care for 13 dogs, but life had other plans. Two of my dogs outlived their first owner, and two more were rescued from a bad environment. My two German shepherds weren’t fixed, and when the female needed an emergency cesarean, I suddenly had six puppies—three girls and three boys. Now, I’m doing my best to find loving homes for the puppies while making sure all my dogs are safe and cared for.

In March, I lost my job, which has made feeding my dogs a real challenge. The cost of dog food for so many German shepherds adds up quickly, and I’m struggling to keep up. On top of that, one of my dogs can jump our 4-foot fence, so I urgently need to build a taller, 6 to 8 foot fence to keep everyone safe. Thankfully, all the dogs are healthy right now and don’t need vet care, but their daily needs are still a lot to manage on my own.
