Help Keep Kaz & Lorilei Housed & Moving Forward

Hi everyone,

I’m Lorilei. In December, Kaz and I left California and drove cross-country to North Carolina to be closer to family and support my son. We sold almost everything we owned—including our home , the RV—to make the move happen. The trip alone cost us over $9,000. Our old van (our only vehicle) made it here after some preliminary repairs, and for a little while it nearly felt like we had a chance to catch our breath.

That chance disappeared a few weeks ago when the entire drivetrain fell out of the van while driving.

By pure grace it happened on a quiet road with no traffic. We are now completely without transportation.

This is not a small inconvenience. Without a working vehicle we cannot:

- Keep medical and dental appointments that are already overdue  

- Search for local stable housing asap, and / or

- Move long distance again, if need be, to Arizona where a friend has offered a place to stay .

We want to stay close to my youngest son,

though nothing has opened up as a possibility

thus far .

We have been working the repair. Quotes started at $6,000 from the Dodge dealership, dropped to $3,800 at a well-known local shop, and we are now partnering with a Christian-based auto repair shop that focuses on helping people in need, plus some assistance from a foundation. Even with that help, we still have a significant gap to close before the van is back on the road.

Every day feels like another cascade . We are living in a temporary and difficult situation. Survival mode is exhausting. I am spread thin trying to keep medical needs, my son’s education, secured housing, and the vehicle all moving at once.

Any amount you can give will go directly toward:

- #1 Completing the van repairs so we have transportation again  

- #2 Helping us secure the next housing situation (whether near my son or elsewhere)

We are not asking for luxury—just the ability to keep going safely and to land in the place we are meant to be.
