I'm an independent journalist who has covered many protests and similar events over the past 6 years.

I covered the Delaney Hall protests for several days, and was there the entire first day when the curfew was implemented.

Riot police showed up to implement the curfew, and eventually kettled in both press and protesters.

The vast majority of press was allowed to leave, but they didn't allow me and some others to leave.

I ended up:

- getting arrested

- punched in the face during my arrest despite complying (resulting in a swollen, bruised, and cut face)

- denied medical attention for about 7.5 hours

- had zip tie cuffs on for about 2 hours which cut of blood circulation in my hands and was sore for about a week after

- was only given a half ounce bag of chips to eat over 23 hours

- had my glasses broken

- had my phone and other belongings including my glasses taken from me and never returned (about $2k+ worth total)

I am now facing a charges for rioting and resisting arrest, and have some sort of ticket for allegedly violating curfew.

I didn't exactly have money lying around to cover the costs of my unreturned belongings as well as lawyers fees, so I appreciate any drop of help and support to cover the costs.
