My son has been fascinated with politics since he was about 6. He wrote to the president at the age of 8 , telling him about his political aspirations. At that time, he wanted to be the 50th president of the United States. His career path has changed slightly since then, but his enthusiasm for all things political has not. He's not just interested in today's political climate but also of the history of politics and government. He wants to go a Washington DC area university. His dream is to go to Georgetown University, but knows that, financially, that is out of reach. His 2nd choice is George Washington. He has received scholarships from more local colleges, but his heart is set on Washinton. He wants to get an internship 'on the hill'. Despite how much my husband and I have tried to steer him down a different path in life, he has held fast to politics. He will be a senior in the fall. He works 2 jobs every summer, He gets very good grades, in the top 5% of his class. We are not a wealthy family. My husband is a medical supply company deliver/truck driver, I'm a nurse part time. We have a disabled younger son who requires a lot of care, time and patience. Our older son has missed out on things due to family circumstances and I don't want him to miss out on his dreams of college in DC. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
