My name is Amy Rochester, and in October 2026, I will graduate Magna Laude from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

This degree represents far more than an academic achievement. It is the culmination of years of perseverance, faith, sacrifice, and determination. As a wife, mother of five, caregiver to my special-needs son, and substitute teacher, I have worked tirelessly to pursue my dream of becoming a certified teacher while balancing the responsibilities of everyday life.

Along this journey, I experienced one of the most devastating losses a parent can face when my oldest son died in 2022. There were days when grief felt overwhelming and continuing my education seemed impossible. Yet through God’s grace, the support of my family, and an unwavering belief that my son would want me to keep moving forward, I persevered.

Today, I stand on the threshold of graduation—a milestone that represents not only earning a degree but also overcoming hardship, heartbreak, and obstacles that once seemed insurmountable.

The funds raised will help cover travel, lodging, graduation expenses, and other costs associated with attending commencement in Phoenix, Arizona. Walking across that stage will be the realization of a lifelong dream and a testimony that even in life’s darkest moments, hope can prevail.
