Save Southside Virginia from Solar, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to minimizing the negative impacts of solar development’s or so called “farms” on the beautiful rural landscapes, indigenous wildlife, and lifestyles of the inhabitants of Southside Virginia. While we believe it is every landowner’s right to use his or her land as they see fit, we do not believe that right exists up to and beyond the point of destroying neighboring property owners’ land values and the quality of their, and other Southside Virginia residents, lives. SSVS was formed in the hope that like-minded landowners and affected citizens in Southside Virginia and beyond, would have a place to combine resources and fight the overreach of solar site developers and state and local governing bodies, together with one voice.

Our mission is not about opposing change; it’s about ensuring that the development of solar sites and the generation of solar energy in this part of the state doesn’t come at the cost of cherished traditions and the quality of life for Southside Virginia Residents. Furthermore, the mission of SSVS is to protect the environments and wildlife we love so dearly from this supposed “green” new energy source that is set to totally destroy them. Our purpose is to protect the way of life that many of us stayed here in Southside Virginia to enjoy and raise our families in. We traded in the amenities of city life for the peace, quiet and tranquility of this beloved place. Now, there are a handful of developers who are, along with local and state governing bodies, willing to destroy that way of life for all of us and do so for their benefit and the benefit of solar site landowners alone. Let’s stand together to protect our families, our land and our home!! We must ensure that Southside Virginia remains a place where children can hunt, fish, play, grow freely and see their communities thrive without being overshadowed by towering solar panels, concrete pads, steel fence and barb wire.

Any amount you can contribute, however large or small, will be greatly appreciated and is tax deductible!!! These funds will go directly toward the exorbitant legal fees that come along with fighting the government bodies ultimately responsible for these solar developments here and across Virginia.

The Bible tells us that God owns all the land on his earth and that we are but stewards of it. Let us be sure that we are good stewards indeed.
