In 1953 NYC seized my late Grandparents' and neighboring Aunt and Uncle's Staten Island homes on Arthur Kill Rd as part of an Eminent Domain project. 10 years after the proposed project by NYC Sanitation was ABANDONED, my family began requesting that these once very rural properties be returned. For many years we had chickens, horses, and beautiful organic gardens on the nearly 3 acres of land, which have slowly been encroached upon by NYC Sanitation and now diminished to less than 1/2 acre. Despite all Eminent Domain statutes supporting the legal return of our properties we have continuously been denied the right to purchase back their homes. To date, 3 generations and 73 years later, we have retained the properties as tenants and have continued requesting the return of these homes we have lived in since 1946 and 1948. With strong legal representation now, we are finally prepared to take our case to Supreme Court and go public with this unique story as we pray and believe for VICTORY in between running the 501c3 Charity: Ashokan Equestrian Center For Children With Autism Inc.
