I have been in an abusive relationship for the past eight years, and only recently have I fully come to understand the extent of the abuse. Over time, it has become increasingly severe, and I now know that I need to leave for my safety and well-being.

One of the biggest challenges I face is financial control. I have been kept in a position where I am unable to save money or gain independence. Any income I earn is immediately directed toward household expenses or his child, and if I don’t comply, the abuse escalates—often involving yelling, intimidation, and being kept awake all night. It has felt easier to give in just to keep the peace, but I know I can’t continue living this way.

I am actively taking steps to change my situation. I’ve started therapy and am doing everything I can to prepare for a safe exit. My goal is simple but meaningful: to have a safe place to live, a reliable car, and the ability to support myself independently. I dream of a quiet, peaceful life where I can go to work, come home, and feel safe.

Leaving will be a long and difficult process, especially without financial resources. Any support would help me take the steps I need to rebuild my life and regain my independence.
