Patrick has grown up on the streets, surviving by collecting recyclable plastic bottles to sell. Every day he worked with determination and dignity, never begging only working hard to earn a small income to survive.

During the recent state elections, as anti-riot police dispersed rioters, a stray bullet struck Patrick. He was not part of the unrest he was simply trying to survive another day.

The bullet entered through one side of his face and exited through the other, shattering his teeth and severely damaging his tongue and the inside of his mouth.

Today, Patrick cannot work.

He cannot eat solid food he survives only on liquids and struggles to speak.

He is in constant discomfort and completely dependent on the kindness of others.

The young man who once worked tirelessly under the sun is now helpless and urgently needs reconstructive surgery to rebuild his mouth and restore his ability to eat, speak, and live with dignity.
