My name is Jennifer Heikes, and this isn't just any story; it’s a chapter in our lives that I never imagined we would be living. Just over two months ago, my husband David was diagnosed with stage 3 High Grade Urothelial Cell Carcinoma. The journey ahead of us has been filled with more twists than the scariest horror movie plot—but every step is taken together.

David’s diagnosis not only turned our world upside down but also left me, his full-time caregiver and a full-time college student, in the role I never signed up for: primary provider. 😔 David had to stop working due to health issues, leaving us with no income source—just medical bills piling higher than ever before.

Facing chemo/immunotherapy, followed by surgery at MD Anderson in Houston until around April, we’ve been living out of suitcases for weeks now, far from our home and everything familiar. The daily expenses like food, travel, accommodation have taken a toll, leaving us with a heartache that can only be matched by the fear facing surgeries and chemo sessions.

But amidst all this struggle, I find hope in each message of support we receive, knowing it’s people like you who help carry the weight when life gets too heavy to bear alone. 🌈
