Supporting Ranjeeta Singh's Chemo

Hello! My name is Vikash Prakash, and I am reaching out with a heartfelt request on behalf of my friend Ranjeeta Singh, who is currently facing the fight of her life after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and serious form of blood cancer.  As a veteran I know the importance of networking and how to learn from others and lean for them for support. And I can't do it alone.

Ranjeeta came to surprise me for Christmas 2024 in Seattle after 25 years. Her plan was to visit me and then my sister but it took a drastic change when I had to rush her to ER on 14 Jan 2025 when she was hospitalized.

Ranjeeta, 44 years old, was in her usual state of health when she began experiencing severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and the inability to eat or drink for several days. I took her to the free clinic in town but being late in the evening and with worsening symptoms, they advised that I take her into ER. These alarming symptoms led to her hospitalization, and in February 2025, after extensive testing, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.

At diagnosis, Ranjeeta had:
Extensive bone lesions
95% bone marrow involvement by cancer cells
Renal complications with proteinuria
Anemia

She was immediately admitted for inpatient chemotherapy to stabilize her kidney function and blood counts. She is still undergoing the induction and consolidation phases of her treatment with a regimen called Dara-VRD (Daratumumab, Lenalidomide, Bortezomib, and Dexamethasone). This treatment involves regular visits to the clinic for lab work, medication, and monitoring by her oncologist, Dr Swathi Namburi at the Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle.

Ranjeeta will begin maintenance therapy to reduce the risk of relapse, and her care team will continue to closely monitor her response and adjust treatment as needed.

Why we need you help

Ranjeeta is in the U.S. without family nearby or the financial safety net many of us take for granted.  I have my family to care for and what little I have left I help Ranjeeta. I have invited her into my house so that she has a roof over her head and food to eat. Cancer treatment in U.S. incredibly expensive and comes with the costs far beyond medical bills-transportation, lost wages, housing near the hospital, and daily necessities all add up. I have used up most of my sick leave and vacation days, I have traveled for hours before and after work through Seattle traffic to make sure she has been able to get to her appointments. I have paid for her over the counter meds and cellphone bills, transportation costs and parking. I have scheduled my VA appointments on the same day as her appointments so that I don't have to take 2 separate days off at the same time.

We are humbly asking for your support to help cover:

Ongoing medical treatment and medications
Transportation to and from her treatment center
Living expenses during her time away from work
Emotional and logistical support as she continues this long battle

Every dollar makes a difference, and every share brings us closer to reaching someone who might be able to help.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Ranjeeta. Together, we can help her fight this battle with strength, dignity, and hope.

With gratitude,

Vikash Prakash
