Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ & All Good Samaritans:

My name is Gloria Lewis; I have been a giver my whole life, especially after I was saved and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior in 1981.  Galatians 6:2, God said for us to Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.  Feeling very hopeless with no friends or connections, I realized that I need help, so, this is why I started my campaign on GiveSendGo, a Christian Website.  Today, I find myself needing the very help that I gave to others countless times before.  Humbly, I am asking a few Good Samaritans to help me to move back to Houston, Texas, and to help me buy my first home with my elderly mother, who is 94 year old. 

Here is an overview of who I am.  It is my past, present and hopefully my future.  In 1981, after reading an article about great job potential in Houston, I went to Houston, Texas on Good Friday in 1981 at age 24 with just a few dollars and basic receptionist skills.  After arriving, I loved Houston right away, so I decided to stay.  By the grace of God, the following Monday, I signed up with a temp agency, in fact, after I was interviewed and before I finished filling out my application, the office manager said, Gloria, I have a job assignment for you.  I went to work in corporate America right away; so that took care of my immediate finances.  All praise and glory to God.  Quickly, I found two girl roommates through my temp agency; so that took care of the room & board.  After I arrived in Houston, someone gave me a copy of a 'little red Bible' with verses of Comfort, Assurance, and Salvation.  I read it everyday after work.  Then, 30 or more days later, my eyes were open; Roman 10:9 came alive to me, I received revelation on how to be saved.  I got down on my knees and repented of all of my past sins.  Then I prayed and invited Jesus into my heart as my Lord and Savior; this took care of my spirit.  Glory to God.

In 1983, I got my first permanent position as a Sr. Receptionist at Texas Commerce Bank.  In 1994, I enrolled in night classes at the University of Houston - Central (main campus) to get my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology while working daily full-time.  My position at Texas Commerce Bank downsized in 1996.  In 1997, I was once again seeking temporary employment while attending school when I could.  However, between 2005 - 2008, it was hard for me to find work, so I had to put my Bachelor Degree on hold while I searched daily for employment.  I became homeless in June 2006 - 2007.  Mid or late 2007, I moved back into an apartment.  Fall 2009, I enrolled back in school at the University of Houston - Central and I changed my degree from Biology to Psychology.  Finally, December 2012, I graduated from the University of Houston - Central with Honors with a BS in Psychology, minor in HR Management.  I was extremely so excited & happy that I had achieved one important goal.

To my surprise, my BS Degree did not help me much to gain meaningful permanent employment (from 2013 - 2019) from Houston to Florida.  Going back 2016; due to lack of employment and money, in 2016, I left Houston permanently and moved back to my childhood home in Florida to live with my 84 year old mother at the time, who was also a widower since December 30, 1998 after my father died.  I learned in 2020 that my mother had suffered a small (silent stroke) in the past, which has had some effect on her memory now.  Now, it is 2025, I am 69 and my mother is 94 years old and I am her primary caregiver for everything.

In 2019, due to lack of employment, I had to apply for my Social Security years too early to help my mother pay the mortgage.  Also, in March 2019, I realized that I really missed Houston and the many opportunities I hope Houston can still offer me as it did in 1981.  So, I decided that I wanted to move back to Houston, Texas and I asked my mother if she would move to Houston with me?  She said yes.  Praise God.  I really can't bear to be separated from my mother now.  I love being with her.  To this day, my mother keep telling me that she know that God sent me home to her.  I do have 4 other siblings.  Everyone seems to be busy with their own lives or they are non-committal to what it takes to care for our mother.  So, my mother told my siblings that she will move with me to Houston, Texas once God gives us a home to live in.

Since 2021, I have been praying and asking God to provide for me a new (3 Bedrooms, 2.5 Bathrooms) home so I can move back to Houston, Texas by November 2025.  Over the last four years, my mother has become deeply dependent on me for daily loving care.  I do not feel like I can work outside the home right now; however, one day, I do hope I can find a great part-time position working from home in Houston, Texas.

Matthew 25:40, In as much as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me, said the Lord.  Your help will make all the difference in helping my mother and me to move to Houston, Texas by November 2025.  I thank you all in advance for your help.  May God continue to bless all of you and your families.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen.
