11 year fight to keep mother and daughter together

Hello, my name is kelly, and I am a mother who has been in a 11-year, non-stop nightmare fighting for my children. After 8.5 years in court, over $40,000 spent, and a corrupt system fighting me at every turn, the fight has just begun again.

The Current Crisis:

My oldest daughter is now 14. The guardians (the former foster parents) who fought to keep her from me have now decided to terminate their own guardianship and are sending her back into the foster care system. Why? Because she has been acting out, wanting to come home.

My daughter has stated she has always wanted to come home. She has fought to come home. And I am here, crying, because I knew it. I told them for years, but I was told, "just because you're her mom, doesn't mean you know her."

Now, after all this, I have to fight CPS all over again just to allow my own daughter, who is begging to come home, to finally be with her family.

How This Nightmare Began:

On July 7, 2014, my two oldest daughters, then 3 years old and 11 months old, were removed by CPS. From day one, we were met with corruption and lies. I knew early on they were going to twist everything to prevent my children from returning. I spent the next 8.5 years fighting just to be allowed a relationship with them.

I jumped through every single hoop. I passed every hair follicle drug test they threw at me, sometimes monthly for years (even though they test back 3 months). We were dragged to court, sometimes every other week, just so they could add new rules to make it impossible.

This case was so corrupt that when they attempted to terminate my parental rights, our 4.5-day jury trial ended with the jury being deadlocked after hours of deliberation. They couldn't prove their case, but they still refused to accept defeat.

The System's "Logic":

I found out the foster parents were trying to adopt my children—who were supposed to come home—from their own GoFundMe page they made to "fight me for the kids."

My oldest daughter, who was 3 when she was taken, fought so hard to stay with me. For 8.5 years, she would act out after our visits, and they blamed me. They said I was the one causing her trauma. As punishment, they would take my visits away, sometimes for 6 months at a time. I knew she was acting out because she wanted to come home, but the system used her pain as a weapon against us.

The most unbelievable part? I have had two more children since my daughters were removed. CPS has looked into my parenting of them and has declared I am a "perfectly fine" mother to these girls. The system itself agrees I am a good parent, just not to the two girls they wrongfully took.

Why We Need Your Help (Our Two-Fold Goal):

I have already spent over $40,000 fighting for my children's right to their family. Now, we are starting a new fight, and we are asking for your help.

  1. IMMEDIATE GOAL: Bring My Daughter Home. We need to hire an attorney immediately. My daughter is 14. She finally has a legal voice in court. We need a strong lawyer to represent her wishes and fight for her right to finally come home to the mother and siblings who have never stopped fighting for her.
  2. LONG-TERM GOAL: Justice and Accountability.

My daughter has a voice now, and I have always had mine. Don't get in the way of a mother fighting for her children.

Your donation, no matter how small, will go directly to our legal funds to bring my daughter home and finally get justice. What ever is left over will go towards fun activities and small vacations to help us make up for some long lost time. If you can't donate, please share our story.

Thank you for standing with us.
