Keren Cruz-Burdick is a member of a small prayer group I have on Facebook, and one day she shared a request for a couple large financial needs. I said I would pray, but that I felt I should also heed James 2:15-16, which says, "If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?" When we have an opportunity not just to pray, but to also give as a demonstration of our faith, we should do that!

Here is Keren's request in her own words:

"After being temporarily in Honduras for 10 years serving as a missionary, I am trying to get permanent residency so I don't have to renew every year to stay here, especially now that I am married to a Honduran. I have finished my 5-year temporary and need to change it over to permanent or full time because they won't renew the temporary anymore. I thought I could continue on the temporary, but have been informed it is not possible. However, the cost is $1800 and I don't have anything near that to pay.

If I were to leave the country, I would be able to come back in on a 90 day permission, but then would have to leave every 90 days to re-enter. It is much more logistical and cheaper in the long run to just change it over to permanent residency. That way, they also cannot "kick" me out. On a 90 day, I can be refused of which I would not want because that would mean I would have to leave my family behind as they can't go to the states yet. We can't begin their papers until my paperwork is in order.

On that note, please also pray we can fix the paperwork of our youngest 2. It is a legal issue we have to deal with and the only answer now is to do DNA tests as their birth mother has passed away already. However, the DNA is going to cost $1000 to do. 🙁 We know God is in control and will provide as He sees fit."

The total amount needed is $2,800, but I know there are often hidden expenses that crop up, so I decided to round up to $3,000 as our goal. Please pray and consider what God would have you to do in helping His work in Honduras through this faithful family!
