This August, I will lay down the last brick: Becoming Midwife Theresa.

We made it.

These words feel surreal to type. I have studied, practiced, and attended over 100 births to get here, and this is just the beginning.

There are many mothers, who await high quality, compassionate, mother-centered care. I cannot wait to be right at their side, fetoscope around my neck, ready to support them as they bring new life into this world.

To get there, The last brick is:

Passing the North American Registry of Midwives National board exam.

This prestigious test is both daunting and expensive.

It is a full day examination, that I will travel several hours to attend, and likely collapse afterward!

Some of my fellow student-midwife peers have failed on the first try, Many have passed!

The stress is real, but I have worked hard to get here, and like we say in birth, “The only way out is through”.
