Fighting 4 Faith Freedom & Justice in Seattle

1 / 1

We are a group of 40 former City of Seattle employees—unionized essential workers from departments like Seattle City Light, Public Utilities, Police, Transportation, and Finance—who were wrongfully terminated for upholding our sincerely held religious beliefs during the city's COVID-19 vaccine mandate (October 18, 2021–February 6, 2023).

Despite granting most of us religious and/or medical exemptions, the city conducted sham accommodation assessments, denying options like testing (rejected for "cost," yet offered to the public), remote work, or leaves. They falsified records, labeling our separations as "voluntary quits" or "non-disciplinary," violated their own policies, union agreements, and Mayoral Directive #10, and ignored easing CDC/state guidelines. Internal emails from October 1, 2021, exposed premeditated refusal to accommodate us, granting leaves to medically exempt workers but firing those with religious exemptions—even one on approved remote work weeks before the state mandate ended. These actions caused severe staffing shortages, endangering public safety and infrastructure.

We've endured lost careers, pensions, healthcare, and immense emotional/financial hardship. Our lawsuit against the city for failure to accommodate, wrongful termination, and discrimination under WLAD and Title VII is now three years in. The city, using $1.5M on external firm Seyfarth Shaw (despite its own attorneys), convinced a judge to dismiss 38 of us with prejudice, deeming our faith-based beliefs—"secular cloaked in religious vernacular"—insincere, rejecting prayer as decision-making, pastoral letters, and teachings on prayer's power. Only four plaintiffs remain, pursuing an undue hardship claim; we plan to appeal, a process that could take two more years.

We suspect corruption: bad-faith bargaining, mandate extensions without directives, and misuse of $300M in American Rescue Plan funds (including $7.3M for worker support that excluded us), potentially federal fraud warranting an audit. Another group of Seattle firefighters faces similar battles against Seyfarth Shaw.

Driven by faith and prophecies of justice, we fight not just for ourselves but for religious freedom, due process, and accountability—paralleling military compensations and cases like "Rattle In Seattle." We've appealed to leaders like Dan Bongino, Real America’s Voice, and President Trump for investigation and aid.

Will you stand with us? Your donations will cover legal fees, appeals, and costs. Even sharing our story amplifies our voice. Thank you for believing in fairness, freedom, and the courage to fight corruption.
