Hello everyone. My name is Chad. I have four daughters that mean more to me than anything else. I am a Christian, single, I am a veteran, and I'm on permanent disability. I have CPTSD, and a neurological disorder that does cause seizures at times (epilepsy), which also includes frontal lobe atrophy. I am a candidate for a VNS, which will mitigate the seizures. And I am awaiting an appointment to consult with the surgeon. I realize that most people will have an issue with me driving if I have the capacity to have seizures. But, I do get an aura before they happen. And with a VNS, they won't be an issue anyway. I have never gotten behind the wheel of a vehicle if my body felt odd. I drove until I got divorced, as long as I didn't feel an aura. I do follow, strictly, the Texas law for driving with this condition. I'm very thankful for my SSDI, and extremely thankful to my church, and parents, for providing me with much needed rides to appointments, some as far away as 2hrs each way. I am still struggling to make ends meet. I get Medicare Advantage, EBT, and all the state aid I qualify for. I take about 23 different medications, but get help through a local Christian agency, called MANNA to help pay for them. There is no option where I live to get free rides. I live in the least expensive apartments in town, and do not live outside my means. And have even had to ask my parents to pay my rent a few times. Which is difficult for me to do. They are both retired, have a mortgage, and don't necessarily have the money to be helping their 53 year old son. But, in order to pay certain things each month, like utilities, phone bill, and medical expenses, I have to use a credit card. And after a divorce 18 months ago, I was already strapped with a lot of credit card debt (roughly $40k), and left with no car, since she took it. Thankfully, I've been able to keep my utilities at, or below 200/mo. Doing everything I can to keep expenses at a minimum, and to shuffle payments. I have thought of bankruptcy, but then I'd be left without a credit card to pay my utilities, and such. More concerned with losing the card I pay for all of my medical needs. My neurologist, psychiatrist, and primary care provider have all agreed that I can work. But it has to be in a limited, part-time capacity. Must also be indoors, or limited duty outside. I ride an electric bike everywhere I go, and it's a wonderful thing to have. I have installed good brakes, better tires, turn signals, an extra headlight, and even a seconday battery. I had to put most of this on, and wear a helmet, after being hit 5 times by cars that just keep going. And it has been such a Godsend to have. Being able to get to the grocery store has been so much easier. But when it rains, or is over 90, I just can't ride it. I am looking/asking for help purchasing a cheap used car that I can use on the days I cannot ride my e bike. Just something that can reliably get me to church, work, and home. Hence the reason I only put it at $5500. I've always worked, and it truly is hard asking for a handout. But times have forced my pride to be set aside. So I am asking you, my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, for help. To help me get a vehicle, so that I can get a part-time job. Having a reliable vehicle to get to work will help in so many ways. One, I could make sure I got to work, and church, when it is raining. Two, I could get to work, and church when it's too hot to ride my e bike. Temps over 90 overheat me, as I have fibromyalgia as well, and tends to cause seizures because my body temp is too high. It's also not a lot of fun riding a bike when it is cold outside. Lastly, it would be tremendously helpful in getting to the ER when I need to. Calling an ambulance, at $250 a time, is not cost effective at all. That's why I never go anymore, unless I hit my head. My parents, and my Deacon, live 45min away. And I honestly have no other friends here. Thank you, and God bless you for reading about my need. Your prayers and your assistance are greatly needed, and appreciated. I have spoken to a few people about a job. Yet they always seem to ask if I have reliable transportation. I guess a bicycle doesn't count. Thank you, again, for reading. Please, please, please, if you can give, please do. My lease is due September, and I have no idea what I'm gonna do afterwards. And thank you to the two folks that felt it in their hearts to give. Please help me. Please pray for me.
