Since its start, people in over 100 countries have joined together to make a difference through acts of kindness, service, and giving.

In 2024 alone, 36.1 million people in the U.S. participated in Giving Tuesday, making it one of the largest single-day movements of collective generosity.

Why Prayer Comes First

Prayer isn’t a last resort—it’s the first and most powerful thing we can do. In prayer, we come before the God who holds all things in His hands, acknowledging that every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). He doesn’t need our resources, yet in His goodness, He invites us to take part in His redemptive work through both prayer and giving.

Jesus modeled this perfectly. Before He fed the five thousand, He looked up to heaven and prayed (Matthew 14:19). Before choosing His disciples, He spent the night in prayer (Luke 6:12). And before going to the cross, He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36–46). In every moment of significance, Jesus began with prayer—reminding us that true power and direction flow from intimacy with the Father.

In the mystery of prayer, God allows us to be part of His incredible work. Though He is sovereign and in control, He chooses to act through the prayers of His people. As 1 Thessalonians 5:17 urges, we are to “pray without ceasing,” not because God forgets, but because prayer keeps our hearts aligned with His will.

Prayer isn’t just about asking—it’s about adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. It’s about delighting in the presence of God, trusting that He hears, He cares, and He moves.
